Man announces retirement - people walk out !

I have been involved with trade unions for aboout 25 years now, but my comrades still confuse me on occassions. Blair has announced his retirement and our task is to influence the next phase of Labour policy. I'm not sure how that is helped by walking out ? Perhaps they should have walked out in protest before and it might have had some effect, not as he retires !

Spot on Martin.

But it's even worse than that...

"Man announces retirement - people with no influence in who the next leader is walk out!"

Am i right in thinking that members of the RMT and the FBU who were also marched out are no longer affiliated to the labour party...

i feel another posting coming on...

Fair enough point. However with my union background I tend to lend an ear to union concerns.(including the unaffiliated) I just feel the "Labour movement" must focus on our medium to long term journey and not just this Blair thing.

My home patch (Arfon) is the home of the TGWU Friction Dynamics dispute, and this dispute was a lesson in keeping Labour grounded in our roots.
