Day for dreams

Its the sort of day when football fans (well except for Everton, Spurs etc) allow their minds to think about May and a cup final. In the Baggies case dreams of promotion and cup final double !

But first of all Preston tomorrow night in the Championship, where everyone seems to have learnt how to beat everyone else, and the top of the league is looking very exciting for many teams.

All your recent posts are about "baggies" - I assume that you are not referring to the Presiding Officers' trews!

Have you finally thrown in the towel on Welsh politics?

If you ever get elected you may well be Prime Ministerial material. You are much better able to avoid a point than either Tony Blair or Gordon Brown have ever been ;-)

If I can ask the question again in non parliamentary terms. What in the f.... is a baggie?

No you are getting dragged in to anorak territory. Wikipedia, that accurate source of all knowledge (!) says:

One suggestion is that the name was bestowed on Albion supporters by their rivals at Aston Villa, because of the large baggy trousers that many Albion fans wore at work to protect themselves from molten iron in the factories and foundries of the Black Country.[52] Club historian Tony Matthews however suggests that it derives from the "bagmen", who carried the club's matchday takings in big leather bags from the turnstiles to the cash office on the halfway line.[70] Other theories relate to the baggy shorts worn by various players during the club's early years.[69][70] The official club mascot is named Baggie Bird, and is based on the throstle depicted on the club crest.[71]

I prefer the baggie shorts theory.
