Plaid hypocrites ? Never .....

"But many electors feel threatened by vandalism, anti social behaviour and petty crime. Politicians have a duty to address this issue..."

"Ond mae llawer o etholwyr yn dal i deimlo dan fygythiad oherwydd fandaliaeth ,ymddwyn gwrth-gymdeithasol a man droseddu. Mae gan wleidyddion ddyletswydd i fynd i'r afael ar hyn ".

Fine words from Plaid Cymru candidate Alun Ffred Jones in his new leaflet now being delivered in Arfon.

He must therefore be really upset by the arrest of three people in Bangor for criminal damage. Exactly the type of mindless damage which absorbs Police resources and he has "a duty to address".

Yet when we visit the Cymdeithas yr Iaith web/Welsh Language Society web site what do we find ? Yes here are Plaid Cymru's elected representaives whipping up the crowd (???) before the criminal acts took place.

Clearly we can expect a press release from Alun Ffred condemning his colleagues and CYI? After all he has "a duty to address this issue".

Hypocrisy ?

Sticking up posters in Morrisons? -mindless damage?

Presumably it would be mindless damage if something had been damaged & if it was without reason. It isn't as if they had sent missiles to Baghdad to turn children into charcoal in order to do something or other about non existent WMDs no is it?

As a matter of interest are you opposed to this sort of civil disobedience & protest in general, or is it just in the case of Cymdeithas yr Iaith? Would you be against Peter Hain's anti apartheid protesting for example?

& come to think about it, I wonder how much police time is taken up investigating potentially criminal activity at the top of your own party.

Your point is flawed.

I don't know the details, but the actions were made in protest at Morrison's attitude towards the Welsh language.

They were not destroying a bus shelter for kicks...

I have no specific argument with CYI who advocate non violent direct action for their cause - but they don't publish a leaflet saying one thing while promoting the opposite. Criminal damage is a concern to Alun Ffred, who tells us he "has a duty " to speak out. His words not mine.

Martin, you're being illogical.

First you call the poster sticking 'mindless damage', & then you say that you have no axe to grind with CIG.

What are you on about?

Slightly late, but good point. Delete the word "mindless" - but still criminal damage of the type abhored by Plaid's candidate.
