Postie is a kind person

Mae'r system post frenhinol wedi bod yn ffind iawn ac rwan mae gen i gyfle i ddarllen geiriau cynnes Dafydd Iwan wrth iddo trio symud Dafydd El i Aberconwy a Alun Ffred i etholaeth newydd Dwyfor-Meirion, nid Arfon. Gawn weld beth yw'r darnau gorau i trafod ar y blog dros y dyddiau nesaf.

Well having blogged about the Western Mail story on my Party of Wales opponent, Alun Ffred Jones, actually being recommended for theDwyfor Meirion seat, not Arfon, the postie has indeed been kind !

I am currently consuming the kind words of praise that "Llywydd" (President) Dafydd Iwan offered in his letter addressed to Lord Dafydd Elis Thomas at his Dolgellau office - before trying to push him on to the Aberconwy seat. No doubt we can blog about a few of the gems in this letter over the coming days. It reminds me of an old fashioned centre half who smiles as he brings his elbow in to the tackle.

Or was the plot failed when the Lord Dafydd Elis said he did not want to play ball ?

Honestly this blog is becoming a case study in hypocrisy.

Do the names Maggie Jones, Shaun Woodward, Alan Howarth mean anything to you Martin?

I don't quite follow the "hypocrisy" bit as it seems to be of interest that Plaid's current spread of candidates is very different from what was planned by the "Llwydd". That is now fact (I have read the letter) not hypocrisy.

If people find the plot uninteresting then of course this fact will not be of much interest to them.

Others may find the speculation of passing political interest.

Having the leadership of a party trying to persuade people to stand in certain constituencies in order to maximise their vote is one thing.

Having the leadership of a party trying to impose acceptable - ie middle class, posh - candidates (sometimes apparently bribing sitting members with offers of peerages to stand down in order to facilitate this) against the will of many local members is quite another thing.

It's reasonable for the leadership to have a view as to the spread of candidates. It's anti democratic to attempt to impose candidates.

Phew - that's a relief. I thought it might be Dafydd trying to make sure his brother doesn't loose !

You confuse me - why are you relieved?

Any views about the parachuting of the lokes of Woodward or Howarth into working class constituencies.

Not my cup of tea - but as with Ffred in Arfon - I assume local members were happy or they would use their powers to do something about it.

I saw Maggie's situation in a slightly different light as the split was between Party policy, as determined by conference in Wales, and part of the local CLP. Life's great irony being that after fighting the principle of the all women issue - Blaenau Gwent elected a woman.

I hope Plaid have no internal tensions after placing women first on the regional lists. Dai Llod and Dafydd Wigley must be delighted...

It's called democracy Martin - something that you can buy off-the-peg in the Labour Party. Anyone for a K or P?
