Keeping out the "nutty" types

Welsh Independence sees a need for a broad church to move towards independence. Plaid are not up to the job it seems. However there is an interesting point that the broad movement must keep out the "nutty types" - Now I can only ask for more details of the "nutty"s please ??........

Surely you're not suggesting that national independence is a nutty concept.

Heaven forbid that I might feel some nats are nutty (now theres a catchy phrase !)

I am simply asking this leading independence blog, used by Ieaun Wyn Jones no less amongst others, about who are the "nutty types" that must be kept out of the broad church ? Their description not mine, and they are pro independence !!

Answers on a postcard .......

Sorry for the delay in answering this comment Martin, I've only just seen it.

Posts on the Independent Wales blog site are made by a number of individuals rather than any organisation, so the comments are not "theirs" as such but those of the individual contributor.

I contributed the article that mentioned the "nutty side of nationalism" and those comments reflect my opinion alone and not those of any group or party not even other contributors to the site.

I have been around the political scene for long enough to know that there is a "nutty side" to every political party and pressure group and that often these people can gain undue influence on a reasonable cause. One only needs to think of the Militant Tendency in Liverpool a few years ago as an example of the "nutty side" of Labour.

All political causes have their burdens and embarrassments. I accept that this is true of the causes that I support. Trying to capitalise on that acceptance merely opens up opportunities to sling the mud back at your causes.

Incidentally I am not a member of Plaid Cymru, and I haven't been for over a decade, so using me as a stick with which to beat that party is a wasted effort.
